OPEN BAR and Lemonade (DJ Set) – FREE – Glasslands This Saturday

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Start the drum machine, bass – bass – snare, cue the synths, hall reverb vocals (maybe layered), live drums to supplement the machine, drop the beat and main synth, sparse vocals, cue the 808 snare, no vocals at all, build, 808 snare roll, bring it all back. Whatever. It’s a Williamsburg electro pop show. Of course they sound good, they’re using analogue compressors that cost a few grand and make every song the best thing you’ve ever heard.

Several months ago I nearly stopped enjoying these social occasions. I was desperately trying to fulfill my New Year’s resolution of enjoying a sober life. Big mistake. I came severely close to moving to North Dakota.

Anyway, I now realize the supreme importance of swallowing toxic fluids. I’ve also realized that the higher the cover, the less drunk I can get. Not cool. And as every venue in town capitalizes on the desperate needs of condo-dwellers to feel cool and in the know, covers are just on the up and up.

So in the spirit of NO COVER and cheap (by which I mean FREE!!!) alcohol, I present to you: August 4th at Glasslands, presented by Popgun.

This Saturday, starting at 11:30pm, Glasslands will open its doors to your need to get down in the late night. Djs include Lemonade, Blondes, and Rewards – all exciting acts with impeccable taste.

It’s FREE with RSVP >>>> RSVP@popgunbooking.com

OPEN VODKA BAR from 12am to 12:30am.

Going to a rich kid school when you aren't even given an allowance certainly trains you to live large on the cheap. Armed with such expertise, Jules travelled the globe, surviving off of 50 cent beers and 2 dollar meals everywhere from Buenos Aires to Mumbai. Three years ago he returned to the United States, living first in Baltimore while he settled a debt with the IRS, then in Brooklyn where he plays music and writes. He aspires to one day live in a van on N.15th and Kent.
