Steve Bannon’s New Movie Trailer is Out, and Yes, It is Insane

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Former alt-right mouthpiece and Darth Vader look-alike Steve Bannon is releasing his new film “Trump @ War,” on September 9th of this year.  The film’s trailer is full of news clips and sound bites depicting political protests, violent clashes, and white guy voice overs extolling Trump’s amazing accomplishments in office.   It’s designed to be a rallying cry to Trump voters before the midterm elections, and if it’s anything like Bannon’s prior ‘straight to DVD’ releases, it will be a nauseating 75-minutes, of mildly confusing, artless, alt-right propaganda.

Trailer:

Bannon shared the trailer as he announced a new political group aimed at turning out the Republican vote this fall, Citizens of the American Republic (COAR).  Right now the group is a sad looking facebook page with less than a couple hundred followers, but that may change.  It’s hard to say if Trump or the conservative base will embrace Bannon and his resurgence this fall.  Bannon was summarily excused from the White House after throwing his full support behind accused child molester Roy Moore, in a failed Alabama Senate race.

As far as filmmaking goes, Bannon is much closer to Joseph Goebbels than Micheal Bay, but he is apparently optimistic about his new project.  He told Axios in an exclusive interview this week, “How jacked do we think Trump will be when he sees this?” Then he added, “If you’re a deplorable, you’ll literally standing on your chair with your pitchfork saying: ‘I’ve got to get people out to vote.'”

Now that big tech has begun taking bold, public steps toward silencing extremists on their platforms (like their recent ban of Alex Jones and InfoWars), it will be interesting to see if Bannon gets any traction online as he once did.  If you recall in 2016, Bannon and his Breitbart Network commanded millions of daily readers and listeners, and their social media channels were booming as well.  But that free reign is over, with Facebook and Google censoring their platforms and the White House itself remaining mostly silent on Bannon, it’s not clear if big donors or the greater alt-right still care about what Bannon has to say.
