The Patriot Saloon– $6 PBR Pitchers and a Whole Lotta Drunk

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

One evening, after arriving to go to what was promised to be a very rare and awesome party in the otherwise-barren nightlife wasteland that is downtown NYC, I found myself with a bunch of dudes, semi-stranded after the cops shut down the said awesome 5-story (allegedly clandestine) dance party.  Thinking on my feet, I remembered a bar recommended to me by an older friend who attended a bachelor party there, called The Patriot Saloon.

I figured since I was with a bunch of pretty chill dudes, this selection wouldn’t be a source of contention.  I was a bit wary, however, because initially I found the bar to be a bit too Coyote Ugly for my taste.  Tough crud.  Given the alternatives, it would have to do.  Honestly, though, who can argue with $6 pitchers of PBR and $1 burgers (that I didn’t eat, but seem like good idea if you’re into that sort of thing)?  Plus, the scantily-clad waitresses and bartenders were very nice to me, and were nicer to talk to than you’d think.

10 minutes and 3 Irish Car bombs later (those things will getcha!), I was possibly more drunk than I’ve ever been.  I remember spotty something-or-others about discarded hot wing confiscating, pool tables, and me punching my roommate in the chest for allegedly “cockblocking” me.  The fact that I didn’t get kicked out is an incredible miracle, and I thank the folks at The Patriot (and my dude friends who are really and truly modern-day gentlemen!) dearly for not throwing my belligerent ass on the street.

Anywho, true patriotism isn’t something we take out of the closet once a year like that screaming skull thing you put on the door on Halloween, so get thyself there and stop thinking that we missed Memorial Day by one frickin day!

The Patriot is located @ 110 Chambers Street (between Broadway & Church St)
