Black Friday Stroll, OPEN at Santos Party House

For most of us, the day after Thanksgiving is totally awesome. It’s a free day off but stuff is open if you need it, it’s a Friday which means good times will be happening at night and in the morning and its the famously significant Black Friday, where shop owners, employees and stock holders hold their breath and pray and pray to make some cash. While I agree with Stuart’s refusal to shop today, we also know our economy does kinda need a shot in the arm, so if you do feel compelled to buy some stuff this afternoon, don’t feel too guilty about it.

Black Friday is also just a kind of fun day to walk around New York (if you can avoid the influx of Long Islanders and New Jersey types that flood lower Broadway).  The Christmas holidays are about to be in full swing so shops are getting all decorated and cute and there’s that lovely crisp overcast light that is so moody and appropriate for fall. I like nothing more on a day like this than grabbing a latte, and wandering the streets of South Brooklyn with Broadcast’s The Noise Made By People, (one of the finest albums for this kind of weather) playing in my ears.

After your stroll, head home and get ready for OPEN, one of the most popular parties at Santos Party House.  Q-Tip on the decks with DJ Gravy downstairs spinning the best hip hop, funk, and danceable jazz to help you burn off all the calories that you packed on yesterday. Its $15 to get in, but think of it as a present to yourself for dealing with your family so beautifully yesterday.
