Djerdan – Awesome Balkan Food in Hell's Kitchen
I wish that I were fat, like really fat. I wanna be the 600 pounds kind of fat where I’m just like, 'œYou know what? Fuck it. This dieting thing just ain’t gonna work. I’mma just eat anything I want, all the time.' Anyone one who knows me, knows I’m far too vain for that, but a boy can dream can’t he? I guess what I’m trying to get at here is that I love food. I’m just as comfortable eating at Le Cirque (actually happened once) as I am eating at White Castle (actually happened a lot more than once). And I love trying food from regions whose cuisine I’ve never had before.
The elusive and mighty burek
So when I walked by Djerdan and saw the sign saying 'œAuthentic Balkan Food' I thought to myself, 'œWhat the fuck kind of food do they eat in the Balkans? I should investigate this!' And so should you. Stop in and get a burek. They’re like slices of pie made from stuffed phyllo dough and blessed by god. They are $4 and will blow your mind (which is the only thing you can blown for $4 theses days anyways).
