Harold Night at Upright Citizen’s Brigade

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Yes, the night is named after this guy

Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre is by far the best comedy club in NYC. It kinda looks like a garage, so you don’t feel like some dude in an ill-fitting jacket is going to yell at you for not reaching the drink minimum. But more importantly, every show at UCB is freaking hilarious. I’ve never been to a show where I don’t have at least one uncontrollable laughing fit. Especially every Tuesday at Harold Night.

Harold Night is when some of their house improve teams perform. Each team takes a suggestion from the audience, and then does a series of improve scenes inspired by it. In a given night the subject matter will vary from mountain climbing to cantelopes to diamonds. And there’s always a good balance of inappropriate, punny, pop culture based and just plan painfully witty jokes. It will be the best $5 you spend on a Tuesday.

Kiley E - Ragamuffin Researcher

After years of denial, Kiley has finally admitted to baring a striking resemblance to Velma from Scooby Doo. Instead of traveling in a van hunting ghosts, she prefers wandering on foot in search of tacos, cheap beer, and fake birds. Growing up in Portland, Kiley enjoyed the balance of urban and green spaces. Then she spent her four years at Ithaca College, and found herself craving more sprawling asphalt in her life. So she moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where most of the buildings look like they're about to collapse. Kiley's favorite activities include: getting lost, crafting, sewing, biking, and geeking out at museums. Her love of taxidermy probably makes her a terrible vegetarian, but she doesn't care.
