YOU PUKE YOU CLEAN at Double Down Saloon

Here’s an old punk bar with the kinda rules I appreciate: YOU PUKE, YOU CLEAN. Now wouldn’t the world be a better place if all bars had Double Down Saloon’s mentality? I mean, honestly, I know everybody likes going to dive bars to get drunk, but if you take that entire whiskey neat in one gulp and end up throwing up all over your lap, the floor and the bar (we’ve all been there, right?) then you need to act practical for the last few minutes of your consciousness and clean up your mess. It’s the least you can do, considering no matter what that spot is going to smell for the rest of the night.

This is one of those punk bars that you’ve always been dreaming of: graffiti all over the walls of the smelly bathroom, a jukebox filled with all your teenage angst favorites, a myriad of voices slurring, “Fuck You”, “Fuck it”, and “FUCK!”, and on special occasions they screen porn on the television! And not just your typical fuck, suck and cum pornos. NO NO! They play some wild midget porn here, baby. This is some weird shit, but hey, isn’t that what punk is all about?

The beer and shot combo is $5, all other drinks are in the $6 to $9 range. So, if you’re in the mood to get DRUNK, be a punk, and maybe watch some midget porn, go get your kicks at Double Down. But in your drunken haze, your punk-rock teenage phantasy,  just make sure you never forget the rule: YOU PUKE YOU CLEAN! Ya Fuckin’ Asshole!

Bobby Rich - Affordable Aficionado

Bobby dropped out of college at the age of 20, said goodbye to his papaw in the small town of Copper Hill, GA, and went to India, where he studied professional pauperism in ashrams and taught English to children. From New Delhi he flew to London, where emigration considered him a "vagabond with no roots to return to", and he was put on the first plane back to America. After finding himself in the freezing snows of Chicago, some guy at a bar offered him a job transporting a car to NYC, where he is currently stuck in Ridgewood, Queens. His travel website The Music Underground has helped many find the obscure in foreign lands.
