Admire the Fall Foliage at Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s FREE Tuesdays

Experiencing all four seasons has to be both the worst and best part of being a Californian in NYC.  Winter snow is pretty for about thirty seconds until people walk on it, and strolling around half-naked during the scorching summer is cool until you sit on a subway seat and feel someone else’s sweat on the backs of your bare thighs.  And while I’m not jazzed to start digging out my cold weather ugly sweater collection again, I have to admit that the East Coast for sure beats the West in terms of autumnal beauty.  Colorful orange leaves, crisp autumn air, and tons of greenery make for one cozy stroll through the park.  This is why I’ll be visiting the Brooklyn Botanic Garden today– and maybe every week until it gets too cold– seeing as admission is FREE and all.

Yep, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden– which houses a bunch of gardens-within-a-garden and normally costs $10 to visit– is FREE every Tuesday.  Relax by the Japanese pond, get thyself to the Shakespeare Garden, and pretend you’re in California again at the climate-controlled Steinhardt Conservatory.  All this located within Prospect Park, which is arguably better than Central Park, amidst all of those changing leaves and breezes and to-go cups of hot tea from a nearby cafe?  Hello, perfect October Tuesday.

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is open from 8am-6pm.  For more information, check out their website.
