FREE Solstice Stargazing Tomorrow in Central Park

Updated: Dec 19, 2011 22:53
The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

NYC’s chill factor may have increased dramatically last weekend, but the official first day of winter is actually tomorrow, December 21st.  Celebrate the solstice with some FREE stargazing in Central Park’s picturesque Belvedere Castle tomorrow.  Hosted by the Amateur Astronomer Association, the event promises to be both fun, and appeal to the Bill Nye-loving nerd that dwells deep within you.

Telescopes will be provided, and members of the Amateur Astronomer Association will be on hand to tell you what the hell you’re actually looking at.  If you happen to have binoculars at home… well, I don’t want to know what you use those for, but the event website suggests that you bring them.  Unlock the secrets of the universe in a castle in the middle of Manhattan (I hope that you appreciate the absurdity of that statement), put on your coat– scientist lab coat or winter parka– and get your geek on in Central Park tomorrow.

Solstice Stargazing is FREE, and more information can be found HERE.  Happy gazing!
