Mardi Gras at Le Carrousel in Bryant Park

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I know the requisite Mardi Gras celebration includes beads, breasts and booze. But if you’re looking for a slightly less inebriated event, Bryant Park will be hosting a very family friendly Mardi Gras party. From 1-2pm on Saturday, head over to Le Carrousel to participate in New Orleans themed events for all ages. Magician R.J. Lewis will be hosting and doing some magic and there will be some live traditional zydeco music by the Dr. Zsa’s Powdered Zydeco Band. There will even be a mini parade!

It’s only an hour and if you’re still thirsting for a more adult Mardi Gras, there’s always Bourbon Street (NYC style) on 46th Street. They boast $5 Hurricanes every day! And they’re flying in a King Cake from Gambino Bakery in Louisiana. Just watch the flashing for beads – camera phones are everywhere!
