TONIGHT – FREE National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation at La Gringa Taqueria

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

There was a time…

A time before Chevy Chase turned into a dildo.

A time before Randy Quaid went totally off his balls.

A time when Beverly D’Angelo was still a fox.

A time when wholesome families all over America parked their station wagons in the garage on a snowy winter’s eve and crowded around the tube for holiday cheer.

Those were the days of Blockbuster advertisements and bad reception. Of honey and mirth. Of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.

But most importantly, those were the days of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

Some will tell you that the first Vacation film was the seminal article. They are wrong. Christmas Vacation reigns supreme. Jell-O Christmas gifts. White trash relatives. Toupées. Dead cats. The movie really has it all.

AND RIGHT NOW… FOR TONIGHT ONLY… IT COMES WITH MEXICAN FOOD

That’s right. TONIGHT. At 8pm, Bushwick’s newest Mexican food sensation La Gringa Taqueria will be hosting a free showing of Christmas Vacation complete with free hot chocolate and complimentary cookies!

It truly is the most wonderful time of the year!

Since opening a few months ago, La Gringa Taqueria has earned consistently high marks with critcs and locals, in no small part thanks to their excellent and low priced tacos as well as their plethora of $2 beers. It’s all organic and guaranteed fresh. No chemicals. No cans. All delicious.

And yes, of course they serve Mexican coke. But with the free hot chocolate I doubt you’ll be worrying about high fructose corn syrup as you cozy up to your neighbor, watching Cousin Eddie empty the shitter into the storm drain, thinking to yourself: “let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.”

That’s tonight. See you there.

Going to a rich kid school when you aren't even given an allowance certainly trains you to live large on the cheap. Armed with such expertise, Jules travelled the globe, surviving off of 50 cent beers and 2 dollar meals everywhere from Buenos Aires to Mumbai. Three years ago he returned to the United States, living first in Baltimore while he settled a debt with the IRS, then in Brooklyn where he plays music and writes. He aspires to one day live in a van on N.15th and Kent.
