When you’re young, broke and beautiful AND living in one of the most expensive cities in the world it can be hard finding entertainment for free. Lucky for you here’s a list of events going on around the city this weekend that cost no dinero.

FRIDAY JUNE 1st

7th ANNUAL BUSHWICK COLLECTIVE BLOCK PARTY

Troutman St at Saint Nicholas Ave|10am- 6pm

This Friday stop by the Bushwick Collective for live music, street art, DJ’s, free face painting, free haircuts, food trucks, a beer garden, glitter makeovers, giveaways and much more. Rapper Ja Rule is headlining the main stage along with Biz Markie and many more musical acts.

 

MOVIE UNDER THE STARS: BLACK PANTHER PLUS WAKANDA FASHION SHOW

Marcus Garvey Park, Harlem |6pm – 10:30pm

NYC Parks is offering a free screening of the blockbuster hit Black Panther. Before the movie begins there will be a fashion show inspired by the fictional nation of Wakanda from the film. In addition, there will be live African drumming and other activities inspired by the film.


SATURDAY JUNE 2nd

SATURDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: STARGAZING IN BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK

Brooklyn Bridge Park – Pier 1 | 7pm – 11pm

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a few hours under the stars. Grab a picnic blanket and join other New Yorkers as you contemplate our singular, magical and miniscule spot in the universe. There will be world renowned scientists and chefs, including a former White House pastry chef discussing cooking and eating in outer space and, of course, there will be telescopes for star gazing.


SUNDAY JUNE 3rd

16th ANNUAL DRUMS ALONG THE HUDSON

Inwood Hill Park, Manhattan | 11am – 6pm

This multicultural celebration and Native American Festival features dancers and drummer from around the world. Spanish, African, Brazilian and Tibetan cultures will also be celebrated. There will be a Tree Of Peace planting, Native American storytelling, crafts and much more.
