‘MericaVision Comedy Song Contest Is Coming To Brooklyn

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Have you ever gone to a concert of a musician you weren’t that familiar with and hoped, REALLY hoped, that they’d sing a song about how they don’t eat ass? Well your anti-rimjob song of the summer might just be Butt Stuff by comedian Emily Winter and you can hear her and many other comedians sing live at  the‘MericaVision comedy song contest at Union Hall in Brooklyn on Friday July 6th at 10:30pm.

While the rest of the world has EuroVision, where singers representing different countries compete against each other in a battle to the death (that might not be true but I was too lazy to Google all the details), Brooklyn has ‘MericaVision where comedians from around the country (U.S.A! U.S.A!) compete in a comedy song contest where the winner gets a 10-year-old bottle of Bourbon Whiskey and a 2-person distillery tour courtesy of the Widow Jane Distillery in Red Hook and the losers are executed. (Again, I can’t back this shit up but it’s Brooklyn and Brooklyn always has to be different).

Produced by the Backfat variety comedy show, and hosted by comedians Larry Mancini and Emily Winter, ‘MericaVision features almost 20 comedians performing original songs and you, the audience, gets to vote on which one you liked the best. They’ll also be a special performance from comedian Rebecca Vigil who interacts with the audience from the stage and makes up songs on the spot based on those conversations. Can we expect a hilarious little ditty about immigrant children house in an abandoned Wal Mart? Perhaps a freestyle rap about the impending battle over the next Supreme Court nominee? Only one way to find out!

Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
