“This proposal will make it possible for every person in America to get all the education that they need” – Bernie

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) proposed to eliminating all $1.6 trillion of student debt held in the United States this morning.  And to make Universities admission FREE.  Why?  Because keeping and supporting an educated workforce and citizenry is an honorable and intelligent pursuit for now, and for future generations.  That’s why.

Sanders is proposing the federal government pay to wipe clean the student debt held by 45 million Americans — including all private and graduate school debt — as part of a package that also would make public universities, community colleges and trade schools tuition-free.

Sanders proposes to pay for these plans with a tax on Wall Street that his campaign says will raise more than $2 trillion over 10 years, although some tax experts give lower revenue estimates. (via Washington Post)

Let’s make our citizens smarter and make the white-collar gamblers on Wall Street pay for it?  Go Bernie Go!  The fight on the progressive left to carve out a strong position in the 2020 Presidential race is heating up.  Of course, only in America is Bernie’s proposal an ‘extreme’ ‘progressive’ policy.  FREE education has been a standard in every other modern nation for decades.  Time to catch-up America.
