DJs have it SO much better than people in bands.  Besides there being no heavy equipment to lug around, there’s also no band mates to bicker/split your money with.  It’s really an ideal situation.  I grew up with The Gaslamp Killer and I’ve seen how he rolls these days; dude gets flown in, he plays records for an hour or two and then he gets a nice check.  That beats the fuck out of lugging your drums from venue to a venue in van with four other smelly dudes only to split the money five ways.  Then again, what do I know, I’ve never been a DJ and the last time I was in a band was junior year in high school in Andy Schroeder’s garage.

In order to be called The Worlds #1 DJ Tiesto had to defeat this guy in a joust. Its rule number four in the DJ handbook.

Apparently Tiesto is the #1 DJ in the world, or so says his website and PR people.  I have absolutely no idea how that is gauged, but I desperately hope it’s through a series of intense physical challenges similar to American Gladiators.  Anyway, I’m not much of a dance music aficionado but I know that a ton of you motherfuckers are, so I got the hook up for you.  I’ve scored a pair of tickets to the Tiesto show at the Cow Palace on November 21st, and I’m giving them away!  All you’ve gotta do is leave a comment telling your favorite story of going to dance party or a rave*.  The winner will be chosen randomly on Tuesday, November 17th.  If you just wanna buy some tix (they’re not cheap) you can do that here.
