FREE Food, Music and the SF Ocean Film Festival

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

You might remember Jeff from his FREE Chinese food Jewish Christmas, or some of the other times he’s done FREE food and movies at The Riptide.  Well my man is up to it again tomorrow night at the kick off party for the SF Ocean Film Festival.

I’ll post the info for it below but you should also know that the following night, Thursday 1/28 they are doing a benefit party Brian, a Riptide bartender who donated his kidney to his sister who has Lupus (yeah, Brian is more bad ass than any of us).  At Brian’s fundraiser there will be music and a raffle in which you can win a surfboard and other cool stuff.

Anyways, here is all the things I bet yo want to know about this magic thing called the SF Ocean Film Festival:

Free admission, free food (while it lasts) and DJ Paul spinning soul, funk, reggae, house and breaks. Surf movies and festival trailers will be played on a big screen and Sierra Nevada will donate $1 to the festival for every one of their beers sold at the party.

Every year, SFOFF produces an acclaimed festival of ocean-themed films from all over the world that are largely unavailable to the general public. Themes range from marine science and industry to sports and adventure. The films are intended not only to entertain the audience but, more importantly, to educate and encourage active participation in ocean conservation.

The San Francisco Ocean Film Festival is a non-profit volunteer run organization.
