Cheap Booze and Artwork, Tonight at Benders

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I don't know who Vitti is, but I'll help him celebrate.

Mike Giant is kind of an unlikely local art hero. He’s gotten a lot of love around San Francisco because 99% of his artwork involves hot chicks and bikes and tecate. (Fact: San Franciscans will only admit to liking two out of three of those at any given time.) Which is why holding an art opening at Bender’s is a no-brainer.

If you’re looking for some cheap, locally-made art to make your crappy apartment seem less depressing, then this will be a good bet. Some of it they’re even giving away if you’re lucky. If nothing else, there are drink specials. As the poster says: ask for the “messenger’s special” if you want to get ripped for cheap.

Tonight: Drink Specials and new work from Mike Giant
Benders Bar
806 S Van Ness Ave at 19th St [The Mission]
8pm-2am

Andrew Dalton - Aggressive Panhandler

Andrew is an East Coast transplant from Virginia hamming it up in San Francisco without any intention of leaving. Having worked every typical job from Bike Shop Employee to Bartender to Ad Agency Hotshot, to Dotcom Layoff he now busts his ass covering the "weird things to do" beat for gracious local audiences at SFAppeal.com and rallies the Western Addy/Lower Haight/Panhandle neighborhoods into action at AggressivePanhandler.com. His work was published in a real, paper magazine one time. One day he might even figure out how to make money from it.
