$.31 Scoops Tonight at Baskin Robbins!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Almost free ice cream? Yes, please.

Baskin Robbins was my family’s go-to for ice cream when I was a kid.  I was so into it that I only learned a year ago that “Jamoca Almond Fudge” is not a universal flavor like chocolate, vanilla or strawberry, but a copyrighted Baskin Robbins concoction.  When I moved to San Francisco, however, my Baskin Robbins obsession was replaced by more elusive and exotic sweet-makers like Bi-Rite Creamery, Three Twins, and Humphry Slocombe.

But if there’s one thing that could draw me back to BR for a day (besides the nostalgic taste of Gold Medal Ribbon, the vanilla-and-chocolate-with-carmel-swirled-goodness), it’s $.31 scoop night!  From 5pm-10pm tonight, Baskin Robbins in the Financial District and Outer Sunset (and other participating stores throughout the Bay Area) will be offering $.31 scoops with all the proceeds going to firefighter charities.

Be warned, however, that there is a three-scoop limit per person.  If a triple scoop for a little over $1 isn’t enough for you, just bring along a trenchcoat, newsboy cap, and fake mustache.  Those BR employees are gonna be so slammed they won’t even notice your retarded disguise.

$.31 Scoop Night at Baskin Robbins Wednesday, April 27, 5pm-10pm 570 Battery St. btw Jackson & Washington [Financial District] and 2250 Irving St. @ 24th Ave. [Outer Sunset]

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
