Cafe Dolci: The Cheapest Sandwich Shop in San Francisco?

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

I think I may have found the cheapest sandwich shop in San Francisco. It’s so cheap that I am telling everyone to go eat there, and not because I’m a particularly generous or helpful person, mind you. I just want everyone to spend their money on this food because I seriously don’t understand how this business can stay afloat with the insane deals they pass out.

I’m talking about Cafe Dolci on Market at 3rd. It’s this little Vietnamese hole-in-the-wall that sells huge sandwiches for less than four dollars! What’s even better is that these sandwiches have some sort of magical ability that allows them to stick to your ribs for hours so that you’ll eat less (and thus spend less money) on your next meal.

They also sell these sizable cups of homemade tapioca for a dollar and some odd change. I get one of those and a sandwich and my meal ends up being around six bucks. That’s less than a Mission burrito '“ which are amazing, don’t get me wrong '“ but a girl can only eat so many beans, if you catch my drift.
