FREE Comedy Showcase at Bazaar Cafe Tonight!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Not featuring Richard Pryor. But still funny.

Some people are naturally funny and don’t need extra attention by doing standup and exposing themselves to the criticism of a spiteful, intoxicated audience.  I happen to be one of these people.

But there are some awesome people that are naturally funny AND they work extra hard on humor because they treat it as a skill — and these people are about to make you laugh tonight at Bazaar Cafe.  FOR FREE.  How lucky are you?  There’s quite a few comedians in the lineup, including Danny Dechi, Fred Anderson, Howard Stone and soooo many more.  Sometimes I’m astounded that we live in such a cool city that has these kind of events for completely FREE.  Then I remember that we also have the Bush Man who scares the shit out of me the one time a year I venture out to Fisherman’s Wharf and it all evens out.

FREE Comedy Showcase at Bazaar Cafe 5927 California Street (btwn 21st and 22nd Ave.) [Outer Richmond]

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
