Be Part of SF's Next Carrotmob at Matching Half Cafe on Saturday

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Do something good for once, you penis wrinkle!

I’m not usually the biggest carrot fan.  They’re okay raw, I guess, but in anything else, like soups or casseroles or cake, I’m not into it.  What I AM a fan of, though, are Carrotmobs.  A Carrotmob, according to Carrotmob.org, is “a network of consumers who buy products in order to reward businesses who are making the most socially responsible decisions.”

Matching Half Cafe, which is already a really cool little place to grab coffee in the Western Addition, beat out other businesses in the city to be the target of the next Carrotmob, which is taking place this Saturday from 3pm-6pm.  During these three hours, Matching Half will invest 200 (200!!) percent of profits made to promote more sustainable business practices, including buying a bike trailer to transport food from local farmers’ markets, cutting down on plastic wrap by utilizing more reusable food storage containers, and purchasing organic milk and more local food.

This is pretty awesome, especially considering Matching Half sells beer, it’s supposed to rain on Saturday and you’ll be drinking somewhere anyway.  Might as well make a difference while getting wasty!  End sermon now.

Carrotmob at Matching Half Cafe Saturday, October 23, 3pm-6pm 1799 McAllister St. (@ Baker) [Western Addition/NOPA]

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
