Bake Sale for Birth Control (and Other Planned Parenthood Stuff!) This Sunday

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Buy some 'cakes, y'all.

Hey, you know that bullshit about the House of Representatives voting to end all federal funding of Planned Parenthood?  Well, it’s bullshit, and this weekend you have a chance to do more than just sign the petition opposing the ban and then post it on Facebook so everyone can see how informed and political you are behind your computer (although, obviously, signing the petition is important too).

This Sunday, Mission Bicycle Company is hosting Cupcakes for Choice, an awareness and fundraising event for Planned Parenthood.  Where do the cupcakes come in?  Well, this whole shindig is a BAKE SALE.  Those clever, clever bastards!  Volunteers will be toting an array of both vegan-friendly and heavy-on-the-whipping-cream treats, which has to be the most delicious way I can think of to support Planned Parenthood and the services it provides for broke-asses everywhere.  So bring your change jar and get your butt down to the Mish to stuff your face with cake and the coffers with moola.

Cupcakes for Choice at Mission Bicycle Sunday, March 6, 12pm – 4pm [Mission]

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
