Get Your Greek On – Belmont Greek Festival

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

With your roommates at Burning Man and the family preparing the potato salad for Monday’s traditional BBQ you should have quite a few openings in your dance card this weekend. Why not fill those holes in said dance card with Greek Food and Dance at one of the Bay Area’s biggest Greek Festivals. The festival is in its 41st year and always draws a crowd from throughout the Bay Area.

As a man of greek heritage and semi-professional greek dancer I always make a point to check out the festival in Belmont, it gives me an opportunity to enjoy excellent home made greek food and to smile and nodd when grampas talk to me and assume I speak greek.

For just 5 dollars you will have access to everything from Avgo-Lemono soup (egg and lemon soup) to Zorba-inspired dance performances. For a full list of the festivals events and a coupon for a dollar off admission head HERE.

Hugh was born in Boston, but managed to escape to the Bay Area before acquiring that ridiculous accent. Growing up in Marin, Hugh joined the throngs of suburbanites that dream of being rock stars and movie gods only to end up in a well appointed cubicle. Now Hugh lives in San Francisco and casually ignores his environmental studies degree, choosing to write comedy and eat burritos instead.
