4th Annual Frisco Freakout!

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

After the FREE, sun-drenched, mimosa-warped glory that was Hardly Strictly, 15 bucks may seem a lot to pay for a concert. But unlike Hardly Strictly, the fourth annual Frisco Freakout is not thrown by a billionaire. It’s thrown by my downstairs neighbor, and is by all accounts awesome.

The all-day, all-night psych-rock dance party at Thee Parkside is bound to blow some minds. On the docket: a serious collection of great psych-rock acts, accompanied, of course, by trippy visuals. Bands – including the Imajinary Friends, Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound, Carlton Melton, Harderships, and way more – start at 1:30pm and play till 2am, plenty of time to lose yourself in the atmosphere, the cheap drinks, or anything else floating around.

Frisco Freakout also works to benefit Creativity Explored, an outlet for artists with developmental disabilities to make, show, and sell their work.

Lucy Schiller - Destitute Dispatcher

Lucy Schiller - Destitute Dispatcher

Lucy's been able to live lots of places but holds her cornfed/pie-fueled Midwestern roots most dear, maintaining too loudly and too often that the Outer Richmond is the Midwest of SF: driven through to get elsewhere and knocked around for no reason (but what other neighborhood has bison?!). You can find Lucy letting things languish in her fridge, purposefully (limoncello!) or not (yogurt...), mouthbreathing, scouring Golden Gate Park for apartment-worthy items, sleepily serving up double nonfat half-caf-half-non-caf lattes at a certain cafe, skulking in various other ones, and yelling under cover of night and costume at SF Bike Party.
