Pho Clement II Electric Boogaloo

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

When you catch a movie with whose title is followed with numeral dos you generally expect a rehash of something that never lives up to the original.  Such is not the case at Pho Clement II.

Even though the restaurant is actually on Geary that does little to hinder the high quality no frills pho you can chow down on.  With the weather getting cooler my internal soup meter has been tilting into the red lately and with that I have been frequenting pho almost weekly.  We all have a favorite pho joint in the city and this spot on Geary is mine.  I’m not sure if it’s the quick service, the low prices or the fact that they don’t judge me for eating by myself while I scribble occupy wall street jokes into my moleskin.

The one thing I do know is that the pho always hits the spot.  The place isn’t extravagant and you probably wouldn’t accuse the menu of taking risks but you know what you’re gonna get and you know that you’re going to be hard pressed to finish it all, and for me that’s all I can ask.

Hugh Hunter - Economical Essayist

Hugh was born in Boston, but managed to escape to the Bay Area before acquiring that ridiculous accent. Growing up in Marin, Hugh joined the throngs of suburbanites that dream of being rock stars and movie gods only to end up in a well appointed cubicle. Now Hugh lives in San Francisco and casually ignores his environmental studies degree, choosing to write comedy and eat burritos instead.
