A year ago it was just me sitting in San Francisco’s Dolores Park with a blank page, a dream, and my typewriter. Today, I’m holding the first edition in my hand, and it’s time to celebrate.

Social Publishing

I did something I call social publishing, which means I gave the manuscript to many talented Bay Area painters, photographers and musicians about 6 months ago. They each created original work inspired by the novel’s story or characters. Their work will be on display at the gallery during the release party.

Because the novel is all about the epiphanies, tragedies and general beauty of life in San Francisco, there will also be some incredible local writers reading their work.

A bit about the book:

In the wake of a tragic accident, Richard, a 26 year old raft guide, comes to San Francisco searching for a way to move his life forward. A chance dive bar encounter launches him on a journey across the city and into a world of contradiction filled with Dolores Park hipsters and start-up ambition where everyone’s got a different answer. Struggling to make sense of the chaos and find his own path, he uses the wisdom of the river to forge a personal rite of passage on San Francisco’s sidewalks, culminating in a wave of self-realization amidst the free-for-all of Bay to Breakers.

Note: If you’re going to the D-Structure 6th Anniversary Party (Congratulations, Devon!), there’s plenty of time to head over to Public Works afterward to drink and dance the night away.

See you there!
