Why Trumpers Don’t Want to See His Moral Failings

Taken at a Trump Rally in Ohio. Shirts read: ‘I’d Rather Be A Russian Than A Democrat’

Trump supporters see him as the messenger for White Male Privilege Patriarchal control. These oppressive Trump values are more important to his supporters than the rule of law, professional competence, or upholding of moral character. Until there is a culture shift in those who have little issues with racism, misogyny, violence, nationalism, sexism, Fascism, xenophobia, and homophobia despots such as Trump will always be the preferred flavor of the day. Trump’s clear message is that it is acceptable to act coarsely, insensitive to others, objectify women, lie, advance greed, act out as a racist or white nationalist.

The next question is how can women vote for Trump, a man who objectifies them and does not support their reproductive rights? In many cases, the answer is that they see their role as backwardly traditional, and being subservient to their husbands.  Depending on their husbands to be their protector, and embodying the same racist, xenophobic traits as their male counterparts. In some cases, their husbands dictate to them who to vote for. Newly elected Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi is a consummate example of a backward racist woman who chooses to live in the past and imbody intolerant Trump values.

The profile of many working-class Trump supporters is a poorly educated and uncultured male who may own their own small business such as construction, manufacturing, or service provider. Many of the folks are successful in their business ventures, but outside of their work, their interests are focused on spectator sports, hunting, or other physical activities. Unfortunately, many of these folks are not readers, do not listen to objective media such as NPR, have little appreciation for the arts, or ethnic and cultural diversity, and have not developed intellectual curiosity or critical thinking skills. Some of their other forms of entertainment are attending evangelical Christian churches which do not foster a modern-day view of the world and critical thinking skills.

I think it’s admirable that these working-class entrepreneurs are self-sufficient, hard-working, and financially responsible, but what about developing one’s self, and personally seeking a wider tolerant worldview? I believe it will be rare to specifically find male Trumper’s having the emotional courage to seek out professional therapy for depression, marital problems, or other emotional problems. They may be risk takers in business or physical pursuits, but emotionally and intellectually they hold themselves back. One is not going to find an abundance of white collar professionals such as educators, lawyers, doctors, and scientists supporting Trump.

The strong, silent type

Trump’s hateful terrifying messages to his followers makes them feel good about their racist, xenophobic, myopic, fatalistic points of view. To make themselves feel better about themselves they many times savor using “Political Incorrectness” as a means to bolster their fragile egos. Many of these Trumpers are not only blindly loyal to him, but also to America using the trite slogan, “Love it or Leave It”, their religion, and any other medium that creates a story that makes them feel good about themselves. Unfortunately, the values of integrity, compassion, tolerance, telling the truth, competence, and critical thinking seem to get put on the back burner for Trump supporters because his brand of snake oil strokes and supports their fragile White Privileged egos.
