I’m a huge fan of Bender’s Bar and Grill. It’s one of the last great divey rock n roll bars that’s still left in San Francisco. I’ve rhapsodized about them before, but to be succinct, I love that the drinks are cheap, the food is good, and the bartenders are the perfect mix of sweet and surly. Also, the walls are covered in signs from many of my favorite businesses that have closed.

Who’s ready for a little bit of personal story time from some blogger you don’t know? Well, too bad, you’re getting some anyway. I grew up in this city and have long been a lush. It didn’t take a lot of clever finagling to get into bars at 15, just
