Rocket Dog Rescue Fundraiser to feature Emmylou Harris
Rocket Dog Rescue is holding a huge fundraiser called the Bummer’s Ball at the SF Armory on Thursday, October 5th. How huge? They’re having Emmylou Harris and Steve Earle perform! And ahem, I’m be MC-ing the event too. The best part is that all of you lovely people get 20% off of tix! Just go here and use the code “brokeass” when you check out. See you there!
For those unfamiliar, Rocket Dog Rescue is a “San Francisco Bay Area dog rescue organization run by a group of dedicated volunteers. We save dogs from death at over-crowded shelters and find them loving, happy homes.”
A few months ago we reported on Rocket Dog’s founder Pali Boucher getting mugged and having donations she collected from an event taken from her. The community rallied around her and thousands of dollars of donations poured in to help Pali save more pooches.
The upcoming Bummer’s Ball will raise even more money for doggies who need loving, happy homes. Besides Emmylou Harris there will also be a performance by Shovelman who plays guitar made out of a shovel! And there’s more! You can expect: sumptuous bites, a live auction, a silent auction, cocktails, dancing and more. Plus I’m sure there will be some cute dogs too.
You can learn more about Bummer’s Ball here (like for example, it’s named after one of Emperor Norton’s dogs). And you can get involved with Rocket Dog here. Woof!
