IRS Stimulus Website Finally Fixed…..Probably

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Like millions of other Americans I’ve been waiting for weeks to get my $1200 stimulus check. While everyone in my apartment received theirs two weeks ago, every time I logged into the “Get My Payment” part of the IRS website, it said “Payment Status Not Available”.

Get My Payment was set up so that people could track the $1200 stimulus check that was promised to all US citizens who make under $75k a year. Unfortunately, while the website repeatedly told me”Payment Status Not Available” it did a shit job of explaining why. Like so many things done by this syphilitic clown orgy of an administration, I had to find out the truth via a reputable news source, and it appears there was a glitch in the system. Because I’d used TurboTax to do my taxes, everything was bungled up and they didn’t know when it would be fixed so I could get the stimulus check.

Apparently this was fixed over the weekend though. Of course, I found this out via Twitter yesterday morning instead of being informed by, you know, the government who is supposed to be disseminating this vital information.

While I didn’t have to enter my address in all caps like the tweet above suggests many others have. That said, I finally got past the “fuck if I know where your money is” stage of the process. I was then allowed to verify that I was eligible to receive the stimulus money, and finally entered my banking information so they could make a direct deposit.

As of today I still haven’t gotten paid, but I’m confident that I’ll get it by 2022. For reals, though, at least it’s positive step forward, even if it’s very very late. Keep your fingers crossed for me and I’ll do the same for you.
