The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

What’s the best show you’ve seen at The Independent? I’m honestly having a hard time picking just one favorite. Was it Charles Bradley? Maybe The Devil Makes Three? Or was it Richie Cunning?

Hell, I even had my my mayoral campaign kickoff party there. I LOVE the Independent!

So I’m very excited to announce that tonight is their first night back in 16 months! And they are starting things with a bang by having the excellent local band, Con Brio, as their first show. Unfortunately for you, it already sold out.

On top of that they’ve got some really great upcoming shows like the Pimps of Joytime, the Brothers Comatose, and The Seshen.

And for those of you worried about COVID, The Independent has strict guidelines surrounding COVID safety. Here’s what it says on their site:

In preparation for our much-anticipated return to live concerts and our commitment to producing safe events, all patrons will need to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event date to attend concerts at The Independent.

To create what we believe is the safest environment for our patrons, staff and artists, we are implementing Health Pass by CLEAR for entry to all concerts at The Independent. We appreciate everyone’s participation in helping us safely bring concerts back to the Bay Area.

We encourage you to create your account and health pass in advance of attending one of our concerts to ensure an easy entry to the show. All attendees will be required to show a Green Health Pass (if vaccinated) or an Amber Health Pass (if providing a negative COVID-19 test) on the CLEAR app in order to enter the venue.

So join me in saying “Hooray for live music!” I’m very much looking forward to visiting the Independent soon.
