They’re Baaaack! STUFF Reopens in 2 New Locations

Way back in October we shared that SF’s much beloved antique mall, Stuff, was closing after 13 years. At the time, their landlord had increased their lease to $75,000 a month which is three times what they had been paying. An increase like that had been way too much for Stuff to be able to sustain their business at their original location.

Lucky for us, Stuff has been reborn in two new locations – in both San Francisco and the East Bay! Led by former vendors, Stuff East Bay and Stuff by Luxe are bringing the same amazing finds you’d find at the original Stuff location but at a slightly smaller scale and with new owners.

While the original Stuff owners Will Lenker and James Spinello aren’t part of the new locations, they have given their blessing. “I think it’s pretty exciting to have new Stuffs with two new owners and two new visions,” Lenker said to SFGate, “I’m excited to see what they create and carry forward.”

Who’s behind the two new locations?

As the chapter closes on the original Stuff location, a new and exciting era begins with Stuff East Bay and Stuff by Luxe. Despite the challenges faced, the spirit of Stuff lives on in these two new locations. Stuff East Bay, now in a new 9,000 sq ft location in Albany, is run by Angelina and Joe Carling, while the Stuff by Luxe location is owned by Ha Kwan – and it’s been reported that these are all previous vendors at the original Stuff location.

These reincarnations promise to offer the same treasure trove of delights in refreshed settings. Both locations are hoping that this new chapter of Stuff will inspire more folks to come and find stuff they love. “I want to create a Stuff where everybody feels like they can come in and find something and walk out with something,” Kwan said to SFGate, “Whether it’s a piece of furniture or art, or if it’s decor, home accessories or a piece of clothing.”

While other kids were attending summer camp & soccer practice, she was raised selling wares at craft shows with her working artist parents and spent vacations in a small 1920s Montana log cabin.
