Open Call For SF Bay Area Muralists

CATAN Studio, in partnership with Building 180, is commissioning a mural in Berkeley, CA, and we are seeking a talented muralist to design and execute this exciting project. The mural will be located at Games of Berkeley, 2510 Durant Ave, Berkeley, CA 94704, and it will serve as a vibrant and captivating addition to the area. This will be a paid and commissioned opportunity, the final budget will be determined once the artist is selected.

Overview:

  • The selected muralist will have the opportunity to create an exterior mural that spans approximately 700 square feet.
  • The aesthetic theme for the mural should be colorful, nature-centric, and offer artistic freedom.
  • The goal is to create an outdoor artwork that allows players to connect the game to the art without using traditional branding elements.
  • The theme of the mural will be based on the artist’s interpretation of CATAN, with a preselected piece of hex art representing CATAN incorporated into the piece.
  • Preference will be given to artists who have a personal connection to CATAN.
  • The project will be managed by Building 180, who will also be the primary point of contact throughout the process and assist in the execution of the installation.
  • Requirements: Experience with heavy equipment, 2 rounds of design, works well with multiple parties, experience with exterior/public-facing murals.
