400-year-old Brewery to Throw Oktoberfest in Berkeley

Updated: Sep 26, 2024 07:35
The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

There’s only one place in the Bay Area to get 400 years of Austrian brewing tradition for Oktoberfest, and it’s right in Berkeley, California at a new, award-winning taproom, (voted Best New Bar in the East Bay 2024 by East Bay Express.)

The Trumer Brewery & Taproom knows a thing or two about how to do Oktoberfest right, they’ve booked the funnest German Polka Band in the Bay (Polkageist West), they’re serving Bavarian sausage plates, authentic Berlin style Döner, fresh German pretzels, and of course, the finest beers anywhere in the Bay.

There will be stein hosting competitions, the traditional Bavarian keg tapping ceremony, fresh delicious beers abound, and it’s FREE Entry with RSVP.

Trumer Pils is the most awarded Pilsner in the world, having won 18 gold medals in the most prestigious international beer competitions.

The Trumer Berkeley Taproom Story

In 2004, a group of enterprising American craft brewers discovered the Trumer Brauerei in Salzburg, Austria. Instead of shipping Trumer Pils from Austria to the United States, those brewers built a sister brewery in Berkeley, California.

This is how Americans can get 400 years of Austrian Brewing tradition, brewed fresh daily in Berkeley.  The Trumer Berkeley team upholds the original Trumer Pils recipe by using the same hops, malt, and proprietary yeast as its sister brewery in Salzburg.

“When the beer is good, you import the beer. When the beer is great, you import the brewery!”
