I don’t know about you, but when the world gets me down, I just need to slip into pajamas, stuff my face with cereal, and take in some good drag, a lesbian vampire love story, or a good Peruvian horror film. Throw in some zombies and some Elvira camp and the world is my Lucky Charm oyster. As fortune would have it, ALL of this is happening this Friday, March 21st, at the completely fabulous (and completely haunted) Great Star Theater here in San Francisco. Hosts Red Bettie, The Infamous Luma Jaguar, and Queera Nightly will lead us through this night of fun. And I never want to miss a chance to see these forces of nature perform.

Pajamas are optional, but you are invited to dress to impress. Along with a cereal bar, a costume contest will also be taking place, with prizes for the best dressed. Three local filmmakers will be featured. Dark Rainbow Film’s Last Bite, a sapphic horror about a vampire who has lost her taste for blood and hires a call girl to reignite her will to live… or unlive, will be first up. I actually worked on this film last summer at the gorgeous Chateau Tivoli. This short offers a bit of classic San Francisco noir and a lot of vampire lovin’.

If you’re wondering what else is on the horror-packed agenda, buckle up! Along with the dark delights of Last Bite, there’s the terrifying The Summoning, an IndigiQueer Peruvian horror flick that will definitely make you shiver. When a local artist invokes the Old Gods to shield her people, she doesn’t quite expect to become the vessel of a jaguar spirit—possessing her body. I am completely here for all of this!

And then there’s Sympathy for the Devil, Jason Ragosta’s Post-Zombie-War-Apocalypse extravaganza. Broken people and zombies war in Ragosta’s bloody reflection of the world.

Between the queer horror gems and jaw-dropping performances, you can’t go wrong. So, come out, dressed for comfort or style as you please. Either way, this event promises to be fun, say hello to the ghost in the women’t bathroom for me while you’re there.
