FREE Bus to DC for Daily Show's "Restore Sanity" Rally

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Jon Stewart recently announced he will be holding The Rally to Restore Sanity in Washington D.C. on Oct. 30. But what is he implying? That other, recent political rallies, which happened to fall on the anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, displayed a distinct “loss” of sanity??

Pssh. I guess if believing Obama is a 'œMuslim' who 'œisn’t a citizen' and has a 'œdeep-seated hatred for white people,' means a person is insane then, well, alright. I guess some parts of America might be a little bit insane. I suppose, by this token, standing next to a black guy also isn’t proof you’re not a racist.

Stewart has described the anticipated atmosphere of the rally as like “…the Gathering of the Juggalos, but instead of throwing our feces at Tila Tequila, we’ll be actively *not* throwing our feces at Tila Tequila.”

So, if you are interested in not throwing feces at Tila Tequila, but ARE interested in attending the rally, Arianna Huffington of The Huffington Post has offered FREE round-trip buses from their offices in Soho to D.C. for the event. Sign up here for more info.

Katy B. - Economic Inexpert

Katy B. grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the home of Gerald R. Ford, Andy Richter, and, at one point, the guy who wrote Mr. Holland's Opus. She moved to NYC for her degree in library science, and is now in the Media Studies program at The New School. She hopes to one day be a film studies librarian. Ask her anything about Dewey Decimal – anything! – and she will roll her eyes because academic libraries use Library of Congress. Durrr.
