5 Outfits For Your NYC Holiday Party
So you’ve been busy holiday shopping for other people, planning your winter vacation, wrapping shit up at work before the holidays, and damn…you have all these holiday parties lined up and no clue what to wear for any of them. It’s freezing cold these days in NYC, so you sort of have to manage your desire to look work-appropriate-hot, with staying relatively warm. Nothing screams DESPERATE quite like a girl in a silk halter top in 29 degree weather.
Well here’s MY two cents! Disclaimer: Some of these items are clearly above any broke-ass type budget, but post is mostly meant for inspiration. You probably have at least 2 similar items per outfit in your closet riiiight now:
1. Grey, Black, and Pink Gardens
Sometimes it’s fun to build a dark and more severe outfit around a cute ruffly bag. Also, I’m obsessed with gray ankle boots. More importantly and to the point, it’s super versatile– you can wear this to any friend’s holiday party, or to your office holiday party.
2. Girl, You’ll be a Woman Soon
You can probably get away with this if you’re on the petite or younger side. I like to think of it as the perfect outfit straddling adult and girlhood. Also, I never used to pair silver and gold together, but sometimes, it just works. FREE YOUR MIND!
3. You So (Dy)nasty!
As I creep closer and closer to thirty, I’ve decided that this fact (getting older, that is) gives me permission to start dressing like Joan Collins/Alexis Carrington of Dynasty. If not now, when? It’s fun, it’s fabulous, and oddly, holiday appropriate. Just TRY and stop me.
4. Pigducken
If prompted to name a personal style icon, I would most likely name Miss Piggy as the one who has made a lasting impression on me for as long as I can remember. Maybe her and Blaire Warner from Facts of Life. Honestly, have you ever seen a pig look that hilariously glamorous (or glamorously hilarious)? I think not. Plus, outfit can be recycled for NYE, or worn to a fun friend-centered holiday party. So, do yourself and take a cue from Miss Piggy, because I’m pretty sure that swine knows how to have a good time (when she’s not obsessing over Kermit).
5. Librownary
