Mom Loves Vinyl at Shakey's Record Fair
Today is the love fest that is Mother’s Day, so if you haven’t already sent flowers, taken her out, or gave her a call, you need to stop reading this, and quit being an asshole. There’s tons of dining deals going on today, because nothing says I love you like some poached eggs. After you’ve done your duty of being a respectable offspring it’s time to treat yourself to some vinyl and maybe a little Donna Summer for Mom at Shakey’s Record Fair. I know I babble on about record fairs all the time, but let’s face it, CD jewel cases make better drink coasters than collectibles.
Join DJ Shakey aka Julie Covello and her mom of course for tonight’s record fair. Dealers are by invitation only so the selection will be well edited. $3 gets you access to Public Assembly‘s two large rooms full of vinyl. Festivities kick off at 7:00pm with DJ’s spinning all night, and film projections from the Cine Noir Film Society. Bushwick Print Lab will also be there providing their screen-printing skills on the spot, so that Genesis tote bag dream can finally be realized. Be sure to check out other possible freebies from the sponsors Dubspot, Wax Poetics, and Turntable Lab. Come for the vinyl, stay for booze.
