FREE Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival
Hard-core collectors and curious amateurs like myself are flocking this weekend to the second installment of the Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival. Curation is key at this compact show, with organizers Gabriel Fowler (Desert Island), publisher (PictureBox), and scholar (Bill Kartalopoulos) handpicking every exhibitor. As someone who’s personally been to shitshow that is Comic Con, you’ll only find the cream of the crop at this event.
There will also be special speakers and guests throughout the day, including New Yorker Art Editor Francoise Mouly and many others. The festival’s focus to to highlight the many diverse talents within the field of independent comics. From silkscreen artists, to illustrators and writers, coming from around the world. Brooklyn’s already known on the national scene for it’s music, art, and fashion, I think it’s time to add comic and graphic art to the list.
