Skee Ball Yourself Happy at Ace Bar
Remember how much fun parties were back when you were a kid and didn’t have to pay for them? Ball pits! Ice skating! Scary singing mechanical animals at Chuck E. Cheese’s! Hanging out at game-friendly Ace Bar kind of reminds me of those carefree times, only with alcohol so it seems way more fun.
Skee Ball machines, pool tables, darts and arcade games are the reasons to come here, despite the sweaty front room crowd you’ll likely have to walk through to get to them in the back. The games are spaced out enough that you won’t get into a bar brawl over a missed shot, and seating along the wall keeps your lazy friends near the fun, too. The bar offers $3 PBR and Miller Hi-Life all day, a good selection of draft and bottled beers for the NYC normal of $5-6, and mixed drinks around $7. Happy Hour knocks $2 off draft and well drinks from 4-7PM.
Outside food and delivery is welcome if you want to really kick it kiddie birthday party-style, just call ahead to make sure it’s not so packed you’ll end up with a nacho bib. There’s also an impressive display of old-school lunch boxes up front to admire as you dream about starting up your own bar version of Leaps N Bounds…
