Drunk Brunch Splendor at The Lovin’ Cup Cafe

The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

Ah, the Boozy Brunch. Sometimes also known as the “Drink Until You Get Up To Go To The Bathroom And Fall A Little” Brunch. It’s one of New York City’s marvels, as we are one of the few cities in the world where we can drink without consequence of having to get behind a wheel later. I mean, that’s kind of why we live here, right? Although there are many throughout Manhattan, so far The Lovin’ Cup Cafe is one of the only spots in Williamsburg helping you day drink the day away every weekend.

In warmer months, its close proximity to both Waterfront and McCarren parks makes it ideal for post-brunch public napping. In colder months, its close proximity to the L train or Brooklyn Brewery to keep the drinking going until you black out is also a plus. For $15, diners get their choice of 3 Bloody Maries, Mimosas or house drafts with a choice of entree like the Hot Lovin’ Rancheros (organic eggs, black beans, avocado, jalapenos, melted jack cheese over tortillas) or a pile of French Toast jammed up with raspberry & cream cheese.

At night, the spot is probably best known for its Cameo venue in the back room (also home to weekly comedy LOL fest The Big Terrific), and serves up a 2-for-1 happy hour 6-9PM Sun-Thurs and a dinner menu worth getting there early for. Sandwiches like The Goddess Sandwichavocado, hummus, apple & basil on honey multigrain with balsamic vinaigrette–come with a side of tater tots or rosemary fries for just $9. Now that’s a lot to love about this cup.
