The Sixth Ward
Outside patio. Booths to sit in. A pool table. Bar. Food. FREE Condoms. Raucous music and space to dance. If the Sixth Ward could add a waterfall and a slide, I’d consider this place to be heaven. Located on the Lower East Side, where Irish immigrants once lived during the 19th century, the Sixth Ward now feeds and serves drinks to New Yorkers.
While I’ve never had the opportunity to try the food, I hear that it’s okay. Appetizers range from the $7 Mexican Tacos to their $11 Classic Shrimp Cocktail. I’d say it would make sense to get the $26 Sampler Platter that lets you choose from a list of four appetizers. Their sandwich and brunch menu is a bit more expensive.
As far as beers, they have both bottled and draft for $6 while offering PBR in a can for $4. If you’re coming with a lot of friends then may I suggest their PBR Bucket of Beer deal which gives you five PBR’s for $15. From Monday-Wednesday(4pm-4am) and Thursday-Friday (12pm-7pm) during their happy hour, all bottle and drafts will cost you $4 and all house liquors will cost you the same.
Every time that I’ve been at the Sixth Ward, the atmosphere was always full of energy with people dancing, playing pool or making out in one the booths. This might be the best place to hook up with someone, because as the bouncer once told me: “There’s plenty of girls in there and the condoms are FREE. Get in there and have fun.”
