2012 just went from good to great. Uptown Showdown–a quirky spin-off on the old-school debate teams–is back with its next installment of “super serious (not really)” debate: Old Hollywood vs. New Hollywood.
They’ll bring in NYC’s most “super serious (not really)” comedians and writers to tackle this burning topic, including Julie Klausner (How Was Your Week? Podcast and Best Week Ever), Dave Hill (This American Life), Max Silvestri (Big Terrific), Gabe Delahaye (Mr. Coconuts) and Gabe Liedman (Big Terrific) square off to tackle the superiority of Old Hollywood vs. New Hollywood! Hosted by Jessi Klein (Comedy Central’s Premium Blend).
Uptown Showdown describes itself as “tackling some of the most important issues of our time, such as which decade was the coolest – the eighties or the nineties, is cake really better than pie and who would win in a showdown – pirates or ninjas? Forget about school reform and health care, these issues, heatedly argued by some of the funniest, smartest, intensely wacky creative thinkers around, are the topics that keep us awake at night….in a good way.” The winner is decided by the audience.
