Meat Sweat Glory at This Little Piggy Had Roast Beef
New York City is a heck of a town. Some say because of its countless cultural offerings or interesting people, I say because it has restaurants entirely devoted to piles of beautiful, brown roast beef. This Little Piggy Had Roast Beef is exactly that restaurant, and for about a year now it has been keeping local cardiologists in check with its celebration of the good things that are terrible for you.
The menu is meager, which is almost part of its appeal: less options means less half-assed inspirations, so you know a ton of noodle went into each choice. My personal favorite (pictured) is the “This Way” and features a heap of tender roast beef slathered in cheez wiz with just enough au jus to keep its bun moist, but not “Oh shit my $5.50 sandwich is now on the floor and i wonder if anyone would judge me for still eating it” moist. Also awesome is trying it “That Way” which features the same namesake meat with mozzarella under a blanket of gravy. The steak-style fries on the side are a good investment, as is the coleslaw with a hint of horseradish.
At only $5.50 a pop (on a roll, more if you choose a sub), it’s definitely worth the gut bomb after. Fortunately its easy to walk around its East Village surroundings after until you feel right again. And that, my friends, is another reason why NYC is awesome.
