No Nonsense Drinking at Nameless
At first I wasn’t really sure how I would find/like a bar purposely calling itself “Nameless,” but fortunately both things turned out better than expected. That had a lot to do with the number 4. 4 is how many dollars the bar charges for a Tecate with fresh lime juice. 4 is also the buckage of a well vodka and soda, made on the strong side. So as a result, 4 is the number of people who had a pretty damn good time at Nameless.
Knowing the bar is one block south of local favorites Bar Matchless helps with my first concern, and there’s no annoying speakeasy-type fake front to make you feel like an ass– you can tell it’s a bar day or night. Inside, the cedar smell is strong (which is either a good or bad thing depending on how well your first hamster experience went) and the seating is cozy, but with plenty of nooks and crannies to find a spot.
However, the real attraction of this spot is for now only viewable behind glass: Nameless boasts a backyard that might make McCarren Park significantly less crowded this summer. To help, they also serve up Genesee for just $3.
