Are you a California voter who wants to create an opportunity to elect the next AOC or Congress's version of Zohran Mamdani? Then your first step is to Vote Yes On 50 by November 4, 2025.

Trump may have uttered the words of the oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution. But his actions since returning to the White House repeatedly demonstrate that he holds that oath in contempt. In fact, he's more interested in using his office to act like a Mafia godfather.

Congress's normal job is to check Trump's actions. But the members of Trump's own party who dominate this Congress are people who lack either the stomach or the interest in doing this fundamental job.

The 2026 elections could create a new Congress whose members have the spine to finally hold Trump accountable...if Trump wasn't busy trying to rig future Congressional representation in his favor. Red states have already started working to make it possible to pack Congress with more Trump-friendly candidates who will never bind Trump to his oath.

But Californians don't need to sit back and let Trump and his billionaire buddies get their democracy-destroying way. California voters can vote Yes On Proposition 50.  The measure lets California elect more Congress people who won't give Trump a political blank check for political corruption.

Best of all, Proposition 50 will be a temporary measure. When red states stop creating more opportunities for Trump rubber stamps in Congress, California will stop packing Congressional representatives too.

The temptation will be there to use Proposition 50's opening to create spaces to elect new Joe Manchins or Kristen Sinemas or even Andrew Cuomos. It will be your job as a voter who cares about American democracy's future to fight this political "same old, same old" tendency. Yes, it is indeed "one battle after another." But given that the stakes are the future of this great 249-year-old experiment in self-governance, aren't these stakes worth fighting for?

The fight to restore American democracy will be a long journey that will take years.  But as the old saying goes, a long journey begins with a single step. If you love what our American democracy can be, take the journey's first step. Vote Yes On 50.
