Stephen Miller as a vampiric bat.

Last weekend in Washington DC, as the algae thickened in the reflecting pool and the blood stains from the UFC fights dried on the White House lawn, a filmmaking crew out of Los Angeles landed in the Capital armed with projectors and satire.

They ‘projector bombed’ monuments all over DC, depicting America’s current federal leaders as swamp creatures. And it was delightful.

Pete Hegseth as an alligator, Mitch McConnell as a tortoise, Stephen Miller as a vampiric bat, JD Vance as a snake, Marco Rubio as a fish, and good ol’ Trump as the Swamp Thing.

Ted Cruz was lit up as a very dedicated night walker, and even Kash Patel and Mike Johnson were featured!

‘VJayBombs’ is the name of the filmmaking trio that has turned projector bombing into a prolific, agitprop art form. The founders are Ken, Bev, and Cat, who began collaborating in Koreatown, where they were all neighbors.

They first began making projections to play during house parties, but the work has since evolved. If you want to see what they’ve been up to during NO KINGS and ICE OUT, check out their Tiktok or Instagram pages.

The crew members use pseudonyms and prefer to remain anonymous, as projecting images or light onto the side of a building is not explicitly illegal, but the Trump administration is not above attacking anyone with lawfare or arresting people in order to scare or silence them.

In Washington DC light projections are not considered physical, tangible objects; therefore, projecting onto a building's exterior is generally not considered property damage or physical trespassing under D.C. code.

But activists have been arrested by U.S. Capitol Police for shining illuminated messages onto Congressional buildings or federal monuments in the past. If you project onto private property, you avoid federal jurisdictional issues. (Read all about projector legality in the Reuters article)

A very well-placed animation depiction of someone removing the ‘Donald Trump’ letters from the Kennedy Center. vintage video clips of him gallivanting with Jeffrey Epstein.
