Four new BIG art installations were added on San Francisco’s Embarcadero this month. There was a parade guided by mermaids on roller skates to the sound of delightful sea chanties to celebrate.

Artist Dana Albany's ‘Coralee’, an 18-foot-long mermaid made partly out of recycled and found materials made in England. ‘Got Framed’, an interactive sculpture by Puerto Rican artist El NiNo (perfect for picture taking). ‘Echoes’ – a life-sized, 1 year-old blue whale by Dutch artist Mathias Gmachl. And ‘Corpus’ by Artist Michael Christian. ‘Corpus’ rises like a form emerging from the sea, an exploration of balance, weight, and the meeting of organic gesture with industrial steel.
The Big Art Loop goes all around San Francisco, and there is expected to be around 100 temporary sculptures in total, installed in the coming year.

The Big Art Loop is funded by the Sijbrandij Foundation (Sid & Karen Sijbrandij) and organized with arts non-profit Building 180, in coordination with OEWD, SF Recreation & Park Department, the Port of San Francisco, and SF Arts Commission.
