Today marks the beginning of the long, sad farewell to Spring ’10 Fashion Week. The white tents slowly collapse, the incessant New York Magazine Fashion Updates finally cease and a dehydrated and caffeine-addled Rachel Zoe flies back to Los Angeles and her hyperbaric chamber in which she will sleep until the next full moon.
If you’re already starting to miss the glamour and style of Fashion week, fear not. Tonight is the kickoff of Williamsburg Fashion Weekend! “What the hell is that?” you ask. Well, sccording to the website Williamsburg Fashion weekend “the original innovator of unorthodox fashion shows in Brooklyn opens its sixth season on September 18th and 19th, at Secret Project Robot. The group of designers with their finger on the pulse of our fashionable neighborhood, will display the diverse elements that make up what Williamsburg fashion aesthetic is about, right now.” T
Wares by designers like Sodafine, Yard, Total Crap, and No Name Collective will be on view at the space, and DJ C0unt Zyr0 will be on the 1s and 2s along with other awesome, musical performers. Booze will be served although no info has been forthcoming about how cheap it is, so when in doubt, BYOB.
The event is free with RSVP . This is the 6th year that founder Arthur Arbit and his colleagues have been able to do this so come by and support local designers and innovators this weekend.
