The Bay's best newsletter for underground events & news

We all have bad dating experiences — but some of them are made even worse by the fact that they’re INTERNET dating experiences.  I have so many from my month-long stint on OkCupid that I feel confident I will never feel awkward at a cocktail party for lack of stories to relate for years to come.

If only I’d had the idea to turn my follies into a musical!  Chris Winslow did have that idea, though, hence OMFG! The Internet Dating Musical closing this weekend at ODC Theater.  The San Francisco love story (could it possibly have a happy ending?!) of two people who reinvent themselves online and subsequently court one another (through song, dance, and spoken word, natch), has gotten rave reviews — and we’re giving away two pairs of of tickets for the very last performance on Sunday, July 17 at 2pm.  If you wanna check it out, send an e-mail over to contests@brokeassstuart.com or buy tix here.  Maybe you’ll learn a thing or two!

OMFG! The Internet Dating Musical at ODC Theater Friday & Saturday, July 15 & 16, 8pm; Sunday, July 17, 2pm 3153 17th St. [Mission] $18 (or FREE if you win tickets to Sunday’s performance!)

Christy Jovanelly - Cheapskate Commentator

When Christy announced she was leaving her family's Southern California home and moving to San Francisco, her mom said, "Have fun in that den of sin." This is the only (however sarcastic) advice Christy has ever taken from her mom, who also told her to join eharmony.com and cover her eyes during sex scenes in movies. Christy puts her creative writing degree to good use by locating the typos on Chinese food menus and spends most of her time challenging friends to all-you-can-eat contests and trying to get that one bartender at Zeitgeist to smile.
